What is Match Funding?

You may have heard a few people talking about match funding and wondered what it is. Match funding can be very valuable for your PTA group or charity and is well worth looking into.

So what is it?
Match funding is where organisations in the UK offer to match the funds that their employees raise for their chosen charity. For example if one of your PTA members works for an employer who is willing to take part in match funding, they will match whatever your PTA member raises or match it to their conditions.

Not all UK organisations take part in match funding and you will mainly find that it is larger organisations that do. The best way to find out it to ask the company if they do it or maybe do a little research online first.

As an example, Barclays offer to match fund monies that their employees raise for the charity of their employees choice of up to £750 per year.

Who can take part
It’s important to remember that it’s not only people that volunteer for your charity that can take part in match funding if their employer offers it. Anyone that works for a match funding employer that chooses to raise funds for your charity can take part and raise extra funds towards your project.

So why not look into it now? It’s almost effortless and is a great way to double your funds whilst also opening up PR opportunities and great relationships with big companies.
