Tracy’s Favourite Installations of All Time
This week we have another favourite installation blog post for you to continue celebrating our 20th anniversary, this time from Tracy, our Managing Director.
Tracy has been with the company since it began 20 years ago, so she has overseen a lot of projects. Tracy also has an impressive memory, recalling details of installations from when Able Canopies was just beginning, but that’s a story (or two) for another day.
Here are her top four installations because how could she possibly only choose one from 20 years’ worth of service?
Colourful Ullswater Apex Freestanding Canopies
“Some of my favourite canopies are the Ullswater Apex Freestanding Canopies with multicoloured frames. Their bright, playful design reminds me of Lego pieces, making them a perfect fit for the Primary and Early Years settings where we installed them. Unfortunately, this particular roof system has since been discontinued, but many of our existing canopies can be just as vibrant. Some of my favourite examples of the ‘Lego’ canopies include:”

Buckingham Junior School, Buckinghamshire
Whitmore Infant School & Nursery, Essex
Repton Manor Primary School, Kent
“I chose this as one of my favourite projects because of its unique and quirky design—unlike any other canopy we have installed. Designed by CSDP Architecture, we installed it for Keepmoat and Kent County Council at Repton Manor Primary School back in 2012. The vibrant yellow colour also makes it stand out, as we rarely install canopies in this shade. Combined with its distinctive shape, it quickly became known in the office as the ‘Yellow Bug Canopy.’ While opinions on it were mixed among the team, I was—and still am—a big fan!”
