New Shelter at Balcombe C of E Primary School

In June 2024, we had the pleasure of supplying and installing a 14.7m x 3.7m Coniston Freestanding Canopy, seamlessly integrated with a 3.8m x 2.6m Coniston Freestanding Canopy at Balcombe C of E Primary School in Balcombe, West Sussex.

Balcombe C of E Primary School reached out to us with a vision to create a large, sheltered outdoor area at the front of the school. They wanted a versatile space where students could play and learn outdoors, protected from the elements, and where staff could hold beneficial outdoor lessons. Recognising the benefits of outdoor learning for children’s development. The school requested canopies in Signal Blue RAL 5005 to match their school gates, adding a vibrant look to their outdoor space.

Our team conducted a thorough survey to identify the best solution to meet the school’s needs. After careful consideration, we recommended installing two Coniston Freestanding Canopies on Rear Steel Goal Posts. This design would perfectly cover the extensive areas required while ensuring structural integrity and ease of installation.

The first canopy was designed to extend over a small, recessed section of the building, aligning with the structure and allowing the second canopy to cover a larger area. This strategic installation provided almost 65 square metres of sheltered space at the front of the school!

This solution ensures that the school can fully utilise the canopy’s potential, offering a weather-protected, comfortable outdoor space for students and staff throughout the year. The canopies will facilitate a variety of activities, from outdoor classrooms and play areas to social gatherings and school events.
