Dawn’s Favourite Installations of All Time

As part of our 20th anniversary celebrations, we’ve been asking our team members to share their favourite projects from their time at Able Canopies. Today, we sat down with Dawn, our Finance Manager, who has been part of our team for almost 17 years. Here’s what she had to say:

“Having seen so many fantastic projects completed during my time at Able Canopies, choosing a favourite is definitely challenging, especially given the wide variety of shelters we offer—each unique in shape, size, and function.

However, if I had to choose one that immediately stands out, it would be Sheep Dip Lane Academy in Doncaster, Yorkshire, Wall Mounted Canopies installs. The school first had an 8m x 3m Coniston Wall Mounted Canopy installed in July 2023, followed by an additional 3.50m x 2.20m Coniston Wall Mounted Canopy in September 2024.

These installations stand out for me because I really appreciate the simple yet effective design of the Coniston Canopy. Not only do they look aesthetically pleasing, creating a welcoming and weatherproof outdoor space, but they also significantly impact children’s daily experience. The canopies allow pupils to learn, play, and enjoy the outdoors all year round, providing essential protection against harmful UV rays, heavy rain, and various weather conditions.

For me, the blend of functionality, durability, and visual appeal is what makes this project particularly special. It’s an excellent example of how thoughtfully designed canopies can transform school environments, benefiting students and staff alike. Additionally, receiving positive feedback from the school makes the experience even more rewarding.”

The team at Sheep Dip Lane Academy shared their satisfaction following the first installation, saying:

““We recently had a canopy fitted within our Reception setting at Sheep Dip Lane Academy. Wonderful service from start to finish even working during term time safely and following full safeguarding. We are now budgeting for a second canopy.”

We’re thrilled that the school was so delighted with the results that they quickly proceeded with a second canopy installation.
