As you may have gathered by now, I love outdoor play and truly believe it is an extremely important part of children’s education as it helps them to grow and learn skills that four walls simply cannot teach.
I also feel that teachers and parents need as many resources and ideas as possible to offer inspiration to incorporate outdoor play into their normal day. I have therefore been searching the web for some really great outdoor play blogs that I can share with you. And here it is; I have found my top 3 favourite outdoor play blogs that offer many ideas, with lots of pictures and tips too!
Sun Hats and Wellie Boots – Sun Hats and Wellie Boots not only have a great name but they also have lots of ideas for outdoor activities including nature play, gardening and play areas that you create yourself on a budget. There are many simple and fun activities that you can take from this website. I particularly love this post about how to make hedgehogs from clay and twigs – cheap, simple and fun!
The Play Files – The Play Files is a blog that collects the best ideas for outdoor play and adds them all to one blog site! They include a wide selection of ideas for all different kinds of outside play whether it is craft making with natural objects, making mini gardens or exploring insects.
Let the Children Play – Let the Children Play is a blog dedicated to active play for children inside and outside. They include lots of ideas for making play equipment out of recycled items and lots of their indoor activities can actually be enjoyed outside too, especially if you have a play canopy installed. I particularly love the outdoor mud kitchen made from wooden crates in this blog post and the multiple outside storage ideas that can be created from milk crates.
