The Brief
The Wyvern School in Ashford, Kent is a special school for children with severe, profound and complex needs that caters for learners from 3 – 19 years old. They are dedicated to providing the best education for their pupils and that includes providing them with a fantastic range of facilities to complement their care and teaching methods.
This wonderful school in Kent is an existing customer of Able Canopies, having installed a Coniston Wall Mounted Canopy and a Codale Junior Free Standing Canopy in April of the previous year, they were keen to add another shade and shelter structure to their school grounds. Because they loved their first canopies so much, they opted for the Coniston Wall Mounted Canopy again. This is because the area they wanted to cover was along the same building as the previous canopy and they loved the durability, appearance and benefits of it. Not only would the new canopy match the existing canopy, but it would provide shade and shelter outside more of their classrooms, whilst also reducing heat and glare beating into the classroom during the summer.
The Solution
Their previous canopy was a whooping 36 metres long however, they wanted to cover a longer length of 41 metres with their new canopy which isn’t a problem at all for the Coniston because it can be supplied in any length with a maximum projection of up to 6 metres.
To keep everything uniform and to match their existing canopy, they chose to have the canopy posts powder coated in Anthracite Grey (RAL 7016) with white roof bars and multicoloured post pads.
The Installation
The installation begun just before the high winds in February 2022, with many areas receiving red weather warnings. Our installation team were keen to ensure the school would have their new canopy installed before the winds started to avoid prolonging the installation. They therefore went above and beyond and worked longer hours, resulting in them finishing the installation 1 day ahead of schedule, just before the strong winds came.
The school were really pleased with their new canopy and their School Business Manger left us these fantastic comments on Twitter:
