Repton Manor Primary School – Bespoke Canopies

Repton Manor Primary School – Bespoke Canopies

In 2012, Able Canopies supplied and installed three shade and shelter structures at Repton Manor Primary School in Ashford, Kent, as part of a project designed by CSDP Architecture. The canopies included a bespoke play area canopy and two Coniston Wall Mounted Canopies for covered waiting areas. To align with the school’s aesthetic, all structures were finished in a custom yellow RAL colour to match the building’s windows and doors. Able Canopies was awarded the contract by Keepmoat, the main contractor, due to its ability to meet the project’s structural and design requirements.

The bespoke canopy presented a unique challenge, as it was designed purely for aesthetic impact, requiring Able Canopies’ team to develop a structurally sound solution while maintaining the architect’s vision. The wall mounted canopies were chosen for their high UV protection and flexible design, making them ideal for the school environment. The installation was carried out in two phases—the wall-mounted canopies were installed first in August 2012, followed by the bespoke canopy in October 2012. Despite the complexity of working alongside other contractors, the installation was completed smoothly and efficiently, delivering a functional and visually striking outdoor shelter solution for the school.
