Big is Beautiful! – A closer look at our Big Span Canopies

During our busy summer installation period our teams have installed some fabulous big span canopies including a stunning Hamilton canopy at White Spire School in Milton Keynes.

This large 16m x 11m structure was installed to provide cover for existing outdoor gym equipment, and to make the area bright and appealing the canopy was coloured Yellow Green to create a vibrant, energetic area that complement the colours of the gym equipment and inspired the students to exercise.

Fitted with a 16mm opal structured polycarbonate roof system, this Hamilton structure now shelters students and the equipment from rain and snow, meaning the gym can be used in wet weather, without the need to wipe the equipment down and reducing the risk of children slipping whilst using the equipment. The Hamilton also protects those using the gym from the sun, offering high UV protection and providing a cool shaded area on hot sunny days.

Our Big Span Canopy range also includes the Double Grange, a large canopy structure which incorporates all the design features of our Grange Mono-pitch canopy, merging two Grange canopies together to provide cover for a larger area.

This canopy can feature an Apex roof, or a Reverse Apex to match with your design needs and to blend with the surroundings.

Over the summer we installed an impressive 24.7m x 12m Double Grange at the RSA Academy in Tipton. Coloured to Basalt Grey, this canopy now provides RSA Academy with a large outdoor dining area to be used throughout the year by students.

Along with our Hamilton and Double Grange, large outdoor cover can also be achieved with our Codale Conic Tensile Canopy. The Codale can span up to 15m x15m providing a large canopy which is ideal for courtyard cover; however multiple Codales can also be installed together, this allows us to create even larger covered areas – such as the large outdoor seating and dining area created using 4 Codales at South Dartmoor College.

All three of our Big Span Canopies can be tailored to a specific size, to meet your needs and due to their large size they can provide cover for a multitude of applications including playground cover, covering a large courtyard to create an atrium, or as dining and seating space, as our recent installation show. They also make great areas to hold events, allowing you to plan outdoor activities without worrying about the weather. And they are also ideal for creating covered outdoor display areas for garden centres, DIY stores and car dealerships.
