Installation Focus: Gallions Primary School

Today’s installation focus backtracks to 2022 when we installed two canopies for Gallions Primary School in London where we supplied and installed two timber canopies within their school grounds. This is a great example of how well a canopy can transform an area, particularly when you throw in additions such as artificial grass and fencing.

Canopy 1: Curved Freestanding Timber Canopy

We installed the first canopy in June 2022; a Tarnhow Curved Freestanding Timber Canopy. It measures 13.9m x 4.5m and although it is freestanding, we installed it against their building to create a free flow environment from the inside to the outside.

This canopy, provides the school with fantastic cover from the weather including from the sun’s UV rays, rain and snow, enabling children to enjoy the great outdoors all year round.

Canopy 2: Domed Freestanding Timber Canopy

The installation of the second canopy took place five months later in November 2022 for a Tarnhow Dome Freestanding Timber Canopy. This canopy features a much larger canopy projection than the first, measuring 10m x 10m which covers a total area of a whopping 100 square metres.

Once the canopy was installed, the school had contractors install artificial grass and timber fencing. Whilst we didn’t provide these services for Gallions Primary School, we are able to supply and install surfacing including artificial grass and timber fencing as part of our outdoor project canopy package service.

Timber Canopies for Schools

Our timber canopies are very popular within schools and colleges due to their stylish appearance, curved Glulam beams and longevity. They are commercial structures that have been designed to outlive the traditional timber canopy. They are installed into the ground using galvanised steel feet to ensure that the timber is not sitting on the ground, dramatically reducing the risk of the timber posts rotting. The timber is stained in the colour of your choice from a selection of 10 colours for protection from weathering.

This enables us to include a 15 year life expectancy with our timber canopies subject to adherence to the maintenance schedule.
