The Welford Dome: A Canopy for All

The type of canopy you choose for your outdoor area will be dependant on what you need the canopy for. Whilst our canopies can be used for almost anything, some are much better suited to certain applications. This is mainly due to the installation style such as whether its wall mounted or freestanding and the size of the canopy.

Some applications will require a canopy mounted to a wall, often if seamless cover from the weather from inside to outside is required. However, if you’d like to cover an area away from the building, a freestanding canopy would be your solution.

The Welford Dome Freestanding Canopy is an extremely versatile canopy that can be used for many applications. The freestanding design makes it unsuitable for seamless cover from the inside of your building to the outdoors however, it’s perfect for creating weather protection away from your building.

The Welford Dome’s large span is one of the reasons it is such a popular shelter. It can span up to 6 metres wide and can be manufactured to any length, enabling it to cover extra-large areas. This impressive size, makes it very popular for use as an outdoor dining canopy within high schools and colleges, allowing schools to expand their dining space, whilst reducing congestion in their dining halls.

The attractive design also makes the Welford Dome Freestanding Canopy popular as can fit in with any setting; we have installed the Welford Dome in both contemporary new-build settings, as well as on more traditional sites, and it looks just as good in both.

If the size and design isn’t enough to draw you in, maybe the fact that the canopy frame can be powder coated in any standard RAL colour at no additional cost will. This opens up your ability to make the Welford Dome unique to your outdoor setting and to make it fit in perfectly. It can also be finished in an RAL colour; however, additional costs may apply.

The Hayfield School, South Yorkshire

The Hayfield School in South Yorkshire opted for two 12m x 6m Welford Dome Freestanding Canopies to cover the students’ lockers so the inside space they created, could be used to create additional classrooms.

St Peter’s Academy, Staffordshire

We have supplied and installed two Welford Dome Freestanding Canopies at St Peter’s Academy in Staffordshire, the first we installed in 2018 to provide cover above their outside dining area and in 2024, we returned to site to install another Welford Dome to provide more covered outdoor dining space as the first one was so popular.
