Transforming Edenbrook Pump Track & Bike Track with a Shade Sails
In May 2024, were delighted to supply and install a 6m x 6m Able Shade Sail at Edenbrook Pump Track & Bike Track in Fleet, Hampshire. The project began when Hart District Council identified the need for shade provision in one of their local country parks.
Edenbrook Pump Track & Bike Track had a small, underutilised space that was uninviting, with no shade that made it hard to fully enjoy the area. The bike and pump tracks are often used for picnicking and resting, so Hart District Council sought a suitable solution from Able Canopies.
Before initiating the planning process, Hart District Council specified several important requirements. One key concern was the potential for anti-social activities in the area; therefore, they wanted a shade structure that would not enclose the space, which could encourage such behaviour. The open design of our Shade Sail canopy, providing weather protection without enclosing the area, was an ideal fit. Additionally, the council noted that the park area is mainly accessed by car, so the shade provision needed to avoid blocking access at the drop posts and fit within the existing space constraints.
Taking all of Hart District Council’s requirements into account, one of our experienced surveyors assessed the area and devised a solution that would meet these needs while maximising shelter. The recommendation was to install our Shade Sails, which not only create a vibrant and welcoming environment but also offer substantial protection from the sun’s harmful UV rays. These sails provide cool, comfortable seating areas perfect for outdoor activities, allowing visitors to enjoy the space year-round. This solution significantly enhances Edenbrook’s outdoor area by improving both its functionality and safety.
